The Lens of Sutton Association is a non-profit making group established in 2001 in order to preserve the vast collection of railway negatives accumulated by the late John L. Smith and to keep the name ‘Lens of Sutton’ alive.
The Association holds many thousands of railway negatives. Alongside an extensive selection of locomotive and train images, the collection includes an exceptional number of unique views of stations, infrastructure and rolling stock from across the whole country. Many negatives have already been catalogued, with more added regularly to our Photographic Lists.
We can supply high-quality, traditional darkroom photographs in a range of sizes, produced to order from our negatives. Full details are available on our Ordering page.
Through our partnership with The Transport Library, we also offer prints and digital downloads from the collection via the Transport Library website. The range currently includes high-resolution scans of negatives taken by the late Denis Cullum, alongside an increasing number of images from our other catalogues.
If you would like to make an enquiry about the collection, please use the details on our Contact Us page.
